The Resiliency of Nonprofits During Times of Uncertainty

In the toughest of times, it’s nonprofits that wear the mantle of keeping themselves afloat while continuing to serve their communities.

The Resiliency of Nonprofits During Times of Uncertainty

Studies done during the height of the pandemic showed us a grim outlook for nonprofits. The effects of lockdowns and social distancing compounded with national calls for racial justice were stretching nonprofits and their budgets thin. Donations during COVID-19 were down while demand for services was steadily on the rise.

Despite these factors, more recent findings from studies have shown us how steadfast nonprofits have been. Emergency relief from the public and private sectors along with generous donations helped stave off the high estimates for losses experts expected to see.

Researchers continue to recommend that the government and larger foundations go a step further. They call for additional funding for longer periods of time and to remove restrictions on how nonprofits can use these funds so they can allocate money to the services impacted most.
