Checking In on Mr. Smith
It was the fifth house on the right, the one with a silver car that never left the driveway. The license plate frame proudly honored Mr. Smith’s service as both a WWII and Vietnam veteran. Over the years, he came on and off our Meals on Wheels route depending on his appointments and hospital stays.
To our Cocoa, Florida staff, Mr. Smith felt like a lifelong neighbor. He was always kind, and no matter how difficult the day, he did his best to stand and greet us at the door with a smile that seemed to say he had been waiting just for that visit. Drivers rotated the deliveries, but there was an unspoken rule: check in on Mr. Smith. Back at the office, the questions always followed—“Is Mr. Smith home today?” “How did he look?” In one way or another, we were all invested in his well-being.
Why We Volunteer
At CaseWorthy, we encourage our employees to get involved in their communities. Sometimes a midweek Meals on Wheels route, like visiting Mr. Smith, is the perfect reminder of why our work matters. Even our busiest leaders carve out time to volunteer not only because it’s important, but because it feels good.
Giving back strengthens our connection to the people we serve and brings us closer to the missions of our customers. Those moments when our work and our service intersect are rare and powerful.
A Personal Connection
Customer Success Specialist Amantha Murphy shared:
“When I was hired at CaseWorthy and learned that we helped deliver for Meals on Wheels once a week, I was ecstatic. As a child, I remember helping my grandmother deliver meals, and I knew she would be so proud that I was now doing the same. I feel great joy just smiling and seeing the people smile back. It’s a simple gesture, and one this world could use more of.”
Whether it’s delivering meals, volunteering at a local shelter, or running in community 5Ks, CaseWorthy employees share a passion for giving back. We believe in our customers’ missions, and we’re grateful to play even a small part in helping them serve their communities.
Thank you
We are deeply appreciative of Aging Matters in Brevard and Meals on Wheels Brevard County for this Certificate of Appreciation. More than an award, it represents the chance to give back—a value that’s at the very core of who we are.
