Summary:
St. Patrick Center serves thousands of people across St. Louis through emergency shelter, housing, veterans’ programs, and behavioral health services. With roughly 20 to 30 active programs in CaseWorthy and every client across every site held in one shared environment, the team uses CaseWorthy to record direct services, case notes, and meals served; support Joint Commission accreditation; and lay the groundwork for stronger care coordination across overlapping programs.
One Platform, Every Program
How St. Patrick Center Connects Care Across St. Louis with CaseWorthy
St. Patrick Center uses CaseWorthy for all its programs, including permanent supportive housing, emergency shelter, veterans’ programs, individual and family housing programs, and behavioral health programming for people with co-occurring mental health or substance use concerns. Across those service lines, the team has roughly 20 to 30 active programs running inside CaseWorthy, all wrapped with case management and supportive services to meet a variety of client needs. CaseWorthy allows the organization to obtain essential reporting for the programs and stay on top of client documents.
Stephanie Blakley, Data & Quality Manager at St. Patrick Center, oversees CaseWorthy across the organization. Her role started as system administration, quality, and compliance work focused on getting CaseWorthy up to speed and has since evolved into a hodgepodge of responsibilities that all run through the platform.

The Challenge
Many Programs, Many Funders, One Story to Tell
St. Patrick Center, like many NFPs, is required by various funders and stakeholders to enter client data into multiple platforms. CaseWorthy is the one common thread among all St. Patrick Center’s programs for client information. Without CaseWorthy, staff would be tasked with navigating multiple databases to answer routine questions.
Why St. Patrick Center Relies on CaseWorthy
The following capabilities have made the biggest difference for St. Patrick Center:
- One place to go for everything. CaseWorthy is where the team can pull what every funder needs at the touch of a button, instead of relying solely on multiple different systems.
- Out of the box reporting. Compliance reports are already built, many return a usable table automatically, and staff can export to Excel and manipulate from there.
- A responsive support model. Between CaseWorthy University, the support team, and her account manager, Stephanie has multiple avenues for help when she needs it.
- Room to grow without buying another database. The platform’s flexibility means the team can keep building on what they already have.
Capturing the Full Picture, Including Meals Served
CaseWorthy is not only handling case management at St. Patrick Center. It is also where the team records indirect services, including meals served. In the last calendar year, St. Patrick Center recorded more than 70,000 meals to the community in CaseWorthy.
A large share of those meals flow through the Shamrock Club, one of the agency’s oldest programs. It began with parishes in the area donating casseroles, and those donations still come in today. Anyone in the community can drop in for lunch every single day including weekends and holidays.
Outcomes and Impact
A Stronger Position for Joint Commission Accreditation
The agency recently completed Joint Commission accreditation, which comes with significant requirements for client intake, services, and follow-up. The team leaned heavily on CaseWorthy to support that work. The team continues to identify ways CaseWorthy can support accreditation maintenance.
Even basic capabilities, like uploading a client document, have made a meaningful difference. With increased documentation requirements, transitioning away from paper is essential. Thanks to CaseWorthy, staff can upload client documentation allowing for seamless access to and maintenance of important records.
Documentation That Holds Up to a Clinical Standard
CaseWorthy has also made it easier to support auditors directly. Instead of building one-off exports, the team can provide auditor logins so reviewers can go in and verify documentation themselves.
Before the accreditation work, case note documentation at the agency was lighter and more basic. As Stephanie researched accreditation standards, it became clear that it was time to step it up. CaseWorthy provided the tools to do just that. Staff utilize custom templates that meet the requirements for case notes, service and treatment plans, and discharge plans.
That structure does more than satisfy a surveyor; it also keeps continuity of care intact when a staff member changes. Instead of delays and gaps in care, treatment, and services, staff can pick up right where the last person left off. CaseWorthy provides an organized, historical record of where clients were at initially, where they are currently, and where they want to go.
Reporting That Comes Out of the Box
Reporting is another area where the team feels confident in CaseWorthy’s capabilities compared to other systems. CaseWorthy has a library of compliance reports built out, and the simplicity of exporting into Excel and manipulating from there is a real time saver. Many reports return a table automatically, which is helpful, and staff can also build their own when they need to.
Compared to similar systems, Stephanie says the turnaround on help requests with CaseWorthy is much faster. In her experience with other systems, a ticket could sit for weeks or months. With CaseWorthy, between the help available from the support team and the self-service path through CaseWorthy University, the learning management system, she has multiple avenues to get unstuck.
Less Burden on Clients Through Care Coordination
CaseWorthy's impact is not only operational. It also improves the client experience across St. Patrick Center’s programming. Clients are typically enrolled in multiple programs as part of the agency’s commitment to holistic care and addressing individuals’ unique needs. CaseWorthy allows streamlined care coordination and visibility into the care, treatment, and services a client receives making it possible to unite case managers in different programs under a shared goal: client success.
Looking Ahead
Stephanie sees a lot of opportunities inside the system the agency already has. Rather than adding another database, the focus is on using CaseWorthy more fully, and on being thoughtful about how the platform is built out over time.
Advice to Other Organizations
When asked what she would say to an organization weighing CaseWorthy, Stephanie’s answer was about discipline as much as software. The platform is highly configurable, which is both the opportunity and the responsibility.
“My biggest recommendation is being thoughtful about how you are wanting to use the system. Work with the people at CaseWorthy to ensure it’s what you want. Make sure that you understand how to maintain it.”
“Think big picture, because it’s easy to throw clients into a database and not consider what happens after that. The maintenance and upkeep is so very important.”
