"If It's Not In CaseWorthy, It Didn't Happen": A Story of GROWWTH
The Growing Relational and Occupational Wealth in West Tennessee Households (GROWWTH) Program at the University of Memphis is a state-funded workforce readiness initiative serving low-income families across 21 counties in West Tennessee. When a planned state reporting system fell behind and a major subcontracting model had to be brought in-house at the end of year one, GROWWTH turned to CaseWorthy as its system of record. Today, every role in the program operates inside CaseWorthy, and the team has used the platform to nearly triple staff, scale enrollment, redesign its training mix around real participant demand, and build a data foundation to pursue funding beyond the original state grant.
What you’ll hear about:
- How centralizing eligibility documentation in CaseWorthy makes audits simple
- How reduced administrative burden lets staff spend more time directly working with and supporting clients
- How reliable, shared documentation allowed the program to double, then triple, enrollment month-over-month
- How a unified system enables deeper, more coordinated participant conversations across staff
VIDEO TRANSCRIPT
My name is Stephanie Godwin-Chu. I’m the project director for the Growth Grant at the University of Memphis.
So, my name is Bishope Wilson. I currently work for the University of Memphis Growth Program. We’re a workforce readiness program. I think I have a kind of unique perspective because I initially started out as a care coordinator, so I had the end user experience prior to the system administrator experience that I currently have as our quality assurance specialist.
At our company, we have a fun saying where it’s, “If it’s not in CaseWorthy, it didn’t happen.”
So it is essentially the system we use, our system of record, our system of documentation. We share the system with all of our staff and subcontractors across the region, so everyone is using it every single day.
So CaseWorthy is kind of like our end-all-be-all when it comes to documentation. It’s what we use as our main point of reference. It’s what we use to upload eligibility documents as well. And so, like, when we get audits or anything like that, we get to just easily have it all there and pull it all from CaseWorthy. Hard work that we do, it, it reduces that load drastically. The more time you can spend actually working with clients and assisting them and less time doing the administrative stuff, the better.
Because we had CaseWorthy in place, we were able to, from the month we ended all of those contracts, we were able to double our enrollment and triple our enrollment month over month without losing a beat, actually. So it was very instrumental in that. I don’t think we could’ve done it without having a system that works so well with so many users using it every single day.
I think I would say CaseWorthy makes hard work easier.
It has enabled us to have more meaningful, deeper conversations with our participants and connect with them in a different way, because we have this ability to share information with everyone in a way that is organic and allows us to care for the whole person, and do so without actually stepping on each other’s toes. We can still be, you know, providing services and crossing over in some ways, but the participant just feels supported. That’s all they feel, and that’s been great because they get the good part of it. They still get that human interaction. And on the back side, we have this technology working that enables us to do what we do well.
