In Nevada’s 2022 State of the State Address, Governor Sisolak announced an additional $160 million to be invested in child care providers. These funds will be distributed directly to those organizations in need and for specific staffing and technology needs at state agencies.
This funding comes as a part of the American Rescue Plan, an act approved by congress in 2021 to provide emergency grants to organizations and businesses hit hardest during the pandemic.
Of the $160 million budgeted, $2.05 million has been earmarked for organizations across the state:
- $1 million to Special Olympics Nevada
- $506,428 to The Shade Tree
- $199,458 to Community Services Agency
- $118,170 to Assistance League Las Vegas to support Operation School Bell
- $106,386 to Fallon Youth Club
- $44,280 to Ely Co-Op Magic Carpet Preschool
- $42,000 to the White Pine Ministerial Association
- $41,600 to the Carson Valley Community Food Closet
In addition to this direct funding, the state’s Interim Finance Committee approved another $5.08 million for state agencies:
- $1.5 million to the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources
- $1.4 million to the Gaming Control Board
- $652,000 to the Nevada Equal Rights Commission
- $477,606 to the Office of Health Administration
- $399,083 to the Office of the State Controller
- $369,823 to the Department of Health and Human Services
- $201,637 to the Department of Taxation
- $68,449 to the Department of Public Safety
