The Bridge Homeless Recover Center

Offloading Administrative Burden onto the Experts

Since 2008, the Bridge Homeless Recovery Center (HRC) of Dallas, Texas, serves adults experiencing homelessness by connecting them to a comprehensive network of care. The Bridge HRC puts people in contact with the services they need not just to endure a difficult stretch, but to fully recover and get back on their feet—from housing and food to employment services, behavioral health, hygiene and laundry, and even pet care. These services had been available individually, but siloed from one another. The Bridge HRC united these services within a single hub, partnering with Parkland Hospital, Metrocare, the Department of Veterans Affairs, AIDS services, the North Texas Food Bank, and other homeless service providers. By providing wraparound services in addition to immediate needs, The Bridge HRC pursues its mission to help people rebuild their lives.

Brige HRC Timeline

2008-2010

Launch with shelter, care management, kennel services, and core recovery programs.

2010-2019

Greatly expanded capacity, added peer support and outreach, and internal housing department established.

2019-Present

Enhanced data management with Admin as a Service, improving outcomes and simplifying reporting and data input.

The Challenge

Managing the software system was time- and labor-intensive, especially given that their staff’s skill set focused on social work and providing services to vulnerable people. The Bridge HRC found themselves reliant on the Continuum of Care’s IT support, limiting their autonomy and complicating their ability to resolve issues. And there was the ever-present worry about data quality and HUD compliance making it difficult to make accurate and compelling accounting of its efforts to funders.

The Solution

With the CoC lead organization adopting the same case management system as The Bridge HRC, they could upload a significant amount of their data instead of double-entry, and improved data integrity. With the capacity for bulk data uploads, data mapping, validation checks, The Bridge was better able to upload data to ensure compliance with HUD, state, and local funders, while also allowing the database to be customized to meet the needs of daily operations. And now that both The Bridge and the CoC shared the same software, there was a single system to maintain.

With Administration as a Service (AaaS), The Bridge HRC unlocked the full potential of their system. The Bridge HRC purchased a monthly bank of hours for one-on-one administrative support from our team of experts with deep system knowledge. Staff found themselves with significant time and resources freed up to reinvest directly in the people they serve.

Key Benefits and Results

Offloading Technical and Administrative Tasks to a System Expert

AaaS helps staff troubleshoot and configure the solution with the help of Ken Davis, their CaseWorthy system admin, who handles system updates, validation, and testing, ensuring that upgrades run smoothly. By helping set up automated and streamlined upload processes, Ken has made it much easier for them to maintain CoC compliance.

Tailored Help for Improving Data Quality

Through the ongoing relationship between our system administrator and The Bridge, assistance is attuned to their unique needs. Regular data audits and configuration tuning ensures clean data and timely, compliant submissions. This lowers stress, increases funder confidence, and due to this support, The Bridge was recently recognized by the CoC for outstanding data quality.

Making Full use of the Tools Already at Your Disposal

Another key advantage is the system admin’s deep expertise in the software. With this rich knowledge, Ken has helped The Bridge unlock and train staff on powerful reporting tools within the system, empowering them to provide data-backed narratives that humanized and supported their clients experiencing homelessness.

AaaS Empowers Greater Advocacy for Your Clients

The Bridge was able to disprove harmful misconceptions surrounding the people it served-specifically that they were not Dallas residents but transplants from other states and thus questionably eligible for Dallas taxpayer-funded programs and services. With the help of Administration as a Service, The Bridge demonstrated with hard data that its clients were in fact from Dallas, greatly strengthening The Bridge's ability to advocate for them with funders.

Conclusion

Having admin support provides peace of mind, greatly eases the workload, and keeps The Bridge’s data accurate and accessible for detailed and thorough reporting. And having data to back up your narrative is essential to getting the kind of buy-in required to build a robust network of providers and services.
